Julie Constantino


Julie is celebrating 30 years in education.  She has authored articles on school leadership and STEM in Schools.  She earned an MA in School Leadership and Administration in 1993 and an MA in Gifted Education in 1999.  She currently writes STEM curriculum for elementary in Winchester, VA.  She works as a Writing Teacher Consultant for SVWP.  She has four children and lives at home in Virginia with her husband and two sons.  She enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with family, friends, and snow skiing in her free time.

Jennifer has 17 years experience teaching 7th grade Global Studies, and 2 years in Alternative Education. She is a Fund for Teacher Fellow and a National Geographic Certified Educator. 

She has a BA of Social Sciences in Secondary Education and an MS in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as Global Studies in Education

Jennifer has been an iEarn Member since 2015. She has participated in the Water is Life Project (2015-2018), BRIDGE Program (2017), Talking Kites Around the World (2017-18), Girl Rising (2017), and Beauty of the Beasts (2017).

Laura has been a member of iEARN since 2010 and has attended iEARN conferences in Canada, Taiwan, Brazil and Morocco. She has integrated global project based learning in her fourth grade and sixth grade classes in the United States. Laura has integrated many iEARN projects in her curriculum such as: My Hero, A Day in the Life, Global Food Show and Tell, and Water is Life. She was one of the facilitators for the BRIDGE (Building Respect through International Dialogue and Global Education) program.

Session Description

iEARN's Water is Life has been a year-long project based learning for K-12 classrooms. The Water is Life project brings students into active research and action-oriented collaboration concerning water as the vital essence of life.

Participants will gain an understanding of the premise for the undertaking of this project and the timeline of events.  There will be an overview of inspiration for worldwide water shortage, a detailed investigation of local water systems, hands-on water filtering discovery learning, LEGO robotic water pump engineering, and an overview of our culminating WALK 4 WATER as a Local Leaders TODAY... Global Leaders TOMORROW theme for learning adventures.

What will educators learn and be able to do at the end of the session?

Educators will gain an understanding of the Water Is Life project as global project based learning.  

They will gain the tools to take back to their school community of learners to inspire the impact of this important initiative.  

They will plan a timeline of yearlong events to have in place before ever leaving the iEARN conference!
