Session Description

During the session, participants quickly experience each step of the GOMI on EARTH Project. GOMI is Japanese for waste. You are “GOMI detectives” at Part I. You follow its long journey to final destination on EARTH. You face "World GOMI Reality“ at Part II. And you are "GOMI activists” at Part III, where you care GOMI and reach your creative GOMI solutions at your house, your school, your community, your country, and our EARTH. The session will also share work done by past participants from countries such as US, India, Pakistan, Taiwan, Kenya, Egypt, and others.

What will educators learn and be able to do at the end of the session?

Through this workshop session, participants put their eyes on the long GOMI Journey from throwing a little trash (GOMI) out of our hands to its end at landfill or in the air, or in the oceans on our EARTH. Who knows, it may invade our human society someday. Our goal of this session is how to get people's attention on GOMI and how deepen realization of GOMI on EARTH today.

Additional Session Information

Session participants realize how little knowledge and concerns on GOMI on EARTH in order to keep our Mother land and Ocean as healthy EARTH. Their realization inspires them how to bring this project into their classes and work collaboratively on GOMI forums with other countries through project PART I~PART III. It invites Diversity and Inclusion in Global Education.
